Shaping the Future of Media Innovation

Kidman & Nicholson’s expertise in media innovation, design thinking, and public-private collaboration was instrumental in the establishment of the Master in Media Innovation at Breda University of Applied Sciences (BUas). This groundbreaking program, which received NVAO accreditation, bridges the gap between academia and industry, equipping future innovators with the tools to create impactful media platforms and strategies.

The program was developed by an interdisciplinary team of renowned thought leaders, including Jay Bolter (Georgia Tech), Alexander Osterwalder (Business Model Canvas), and Mary Beth Oliver (Penn State University). By integrating cutting-edge academic research with practical insights, the curriculum emphasizes innovation, user-centered design, and the transformative potential of media.

Industry Collaboration at Its Core
The program actively involves leading media organizations and professionals to strengthen its connection with industry. This approach ensures students are prepared for real-world challenges, blending academic rigor with practical application.

As part of this initiative, we co-founded Innovation Industries BV, a public-private incubator designed to support projects. This unique structure provided students with mentorship, funding, and the opportunity to scale their ideas into viable ventures, creating a platform for sustainable innovation.

Impact and Legacy
The Master in Media Innovation continues to influence the media landscape by combining academic excellence, hands-on experience, and industry collaboration. Graduates have gone on to pioneer innovative projects, reflecting the program’s commitment to shaping the future of media.
